Final Countdown to CLARINET.BALLISTIX Concert!

In Concert Blog on August 12, 2009 at 11:59 am

Sunday’s performance is fast approaching and as a result I am suffering my usual dose of reed stress as well as trying to ensure I get a reasonable percentage of right notes! My powers of concentration are certainly going to be tested as I play for the audience in Llewellyn Hall while a camera on an eight metre boom drifts quietly past my left ear!

I am enjoying the balance of the programme, although the repertoire is certainly challenging; the more so because I am performing three of the works for the first time. I feel sure that the new compositions by Elena and Miro are going to be important and long-lasting additions to the repertoire for clarinet cello and piano; listen for the sublime beauty of the middle section of “Time is Moved.”

We keep hearing of more parties planned for Sunday during the webcast. Events are happening in Brisbane, Sydney, and Toowoomba and, we think, over breakfast in Norway! Thanks to everyone for organising these, and if you are planning something that we don’t know about please let us know so that we can say hi during the show. Be sure to take photos of yourselves, and we will post them on the site.

We would love to get your questions for the live Q&A session; you don’t have to wait for the webcast – start sending them now! Follow the links below under Musician Q&A and add your question as a comment. See you on Sunday – I’m off to do some practise!

Remarkably beautiful playing from all of you. I was not able to experience the performance live and have just listened to the archived performance. This performance leaves no doubt that you represent the finest that this country has produced and how lucky Canberra is to have you in residence.
